Comic-Con Survival Guide: San Diego 2017

Sharing is caring!

General Information

When: Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23. Where: San Diego Convention Center 111 W. Harbor Dr., San Diego, CA 92101

Parking

There are a few companies that are selling reserved parking stalls online. The only two that are officially on Comic-Con’s website are ABM Parking (via ParkWhiz) and ACE Parking. There are still lots available but they are filling up fast! If you’d like to try other options, ParkMe has a list of available lots from other sellers.   Bear in mind, there is no designated parking for horses, spacecraft, or dragons—unless you are the Mother of Dragons of course.

Shuttle Buses

Comic-Con offers FREE 24-hour service shuttles from 63 designated locations. Click here for a downloadable Shuttle Schedule with dates, locations, and shuttle frequency. It’s super simple, pick a shuttle route and flash your Comic-Con ID Badge to ride.   Services begin Wed, July 19 starting at 3:00pm and ends Sunday, July 23 at 7:00pm. For additional options Comic-Con has put together this great resource for you here.   For all other modes of transportation like teleportation, light-speed, flying, and broomsticks consult your local experts. Hotelpocalypse

This is for the procrastinators and the johnny-come-latelies. Because anyone with a badge has already ran through the hotel gauntlet. Here is a list of San Diego hotels that are close to the convention center and should still have rooms available for Comic-con.

Places To Eat

Comic-Con has graciously compiled a list of over 200 places to eat and drink within walking distance of the convention center in their 2017 Restaurant Guide. Be sure to wear your badge to get special offers  and discounts at local establishments. There will be special “Grab-and-Go” meals available to Comic-Con attendees.   Below is a list of restaurants that have Comic-Con themed dishes and late night parties.     If you pulled over for drinking too much butterbeer be sure to hire a good criminal defense attorney.

If You Didn’t Get A Badge

You’re not alone. Nearly one million people try every year to get one of the mere 55,000 badges… You may feel like Superman being left out of new Justice League trailers.   Luckily, there is still plenty to do! You can check out this zombie/horror character meetup. There will also be several displays of movie props. Do your best to find one of these underground lightsaber fights. Below is a list of Comic-Con costume parties at local bars and restaurants that are open to the public.
  • 2 Blog 2 Furious at McFadden’s Pub: the San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog’s annual party. Wednesday, July 19, 7-11 p.m.
  • Game of Bloggers at the House of Blues: media and bloggers networking event. Wednesday, July 19, 9 p.m.-midnight
  • The Dixie Pig at the Tipsy Crow: presented by IGN and The Dark Tower. Featuring food, drinks, live entertainment, music and promotional giveaways. Thursday, July 20, 8 p.m.-2 a.m.
  • Syfy fan party at the New Children’s Museum: musical performances and live show by the Spazmatics. Thursday, July 20, 9 p.m.-2 a.m and Saturday, July 22, 9 p.m.-2 a.m
  • Red Wedding After Party at the House of Blues: dance party to celebrate the end of SDCC and the one-year anniversary of The Hero Within. Saturday, July 22.
For some, the biggest reason to attend Comic-Con without a badge is to straight up people watch! The best place to see the most action is in the Gaslamp Quarter. It’s 16 blocks comic-con craziness right by the convention center. It’s also fun to hop on any of the mass transit and watch all the superheroes mingling with the common folk. When Things Get Too Real at Comic-Con

When Comic-Con fans let loose you never know what will happen. You might just find yourself on the wrong side of the law.   So when the commissioner wants you locked up for your constant vigilantism, or you find yourself in the dungeon of the Red Keep, or when you’re trying to convince the Mos Eisley storm-troopers that the other guy shot first . Make sure you have a Daredevil of a lawyer on your side and call Bradley R. Corbett – San Diego Criminal Defense & DUI Attorney.
